Château Anthonic was classified a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 1932, a rank that was confirmed in the revised 2003 classification.
The estate is located on clay-limestone and Garonne gravel soil in the Moulis appellation. The vines are relatively young (an average age of 20 years old), which is reflected in certain vintages. The density is 6,700 vines/hectare.
Château Anthonic is powerful, and at times slightly rustic. In good years it has a complex bouquet typical of the Médoc, as well as good tannin.
Although Merlot predominates in the final blend, Château Anthonic's style is quite massive, leading to a lack of elegance in certain years.
Those who like this wine are particularly fond of the successful 1990. More recently, the 2001 vintage has also received favorable reviews.
The more recent vintages illustrate the efforts done at the property to increase the quality.
