STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Balestard la Tonnelle

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Grand Cru Classé

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Dating back to the 15th century, Balestard la Tonnelle is in a privileged location very close to the medieval town of Saint-Emilion.

The estate is situated at the top of a clay-limestone rise going towards Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes.

The average age of the vines is 35 years.

In the Bottle

Balestard la Tonnelle produces quite intense, well-structured wines with good aging potential.

The most recent vintages of Château Balestard la Tonnelle seem more elegant.

Quality has improved since the turn of the century, and the latest vintages of Balestard la Tonnelle are definitely among the good wines of the Saint-Emilion appellation.
