STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Bouscaut

Pessac-Léognan

Cru Classé de Graves

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Bouscaut, with its beautiful 18th century château, was bought in 1979 by Lucien Lurton, the owner of Brane Cantenac and Durfort-Vivens.

Located on a sandy-gravel-clay rise with limestone bedrock, this estate produces red wines made primarily from Merlot.

Slightly rustic, but fairly expressive, Bouscaut is representative of its appellation. The more recent vintages of Bouscaut are more harmonious with a recognizable spicy note due to the Malbec variety.

The white wine of Château Bouscaut is usually round and fruity and bode well with cheese.

In the Bottle

Château Bouscaut's performance was quite weak until the late 90s, but noticeable progress has been made with Bouscaut's red wines in recent vintages.

This recent tendency towards improved quality makes Bouscaut one of the most best quality/price ratios in the appellation.

Château Bouscaut white is pleasantly generous and fruity.
