STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Branaire-Ducru

Saint-Julien

4ème Grand Cru Classé

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Château Branaire Ducru was built by the Duluc family in the late 18th century.

The 50 hectare vineyard is spread over various plots in Saint-Julien, some of which are several kilometers from the château.

The terroir (quaternary siliceous-gravel alluvium on iron pan bedrock) is nevertheless consistent.

Branaire-Ducru has a rather classic Saint-Julien style with fruity, spicy aromas as well as fine structure and elegance.

In the Bottle

The Branaire-Ducru team are doing their utmost to make wine on a par with the best estates in Saint-Julien. Château Branaire Ducru has become more dependable since investments were made in the cellar over the last few years.

Recent vintages of Château Branaire-Ducru have a good Quality/Price ratio.

TASTING NOTES

Laurent Gibet - 05/2008

Restrained, classic Bordeaux nose.
Teeth-coating, well-structured tannin. A very classy style.
Should show nicely in 5-10 years.
