STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Brillette

Moulis

Cru Bourgeois Supérieur

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Château Brillette has particularly gravelly soil, and is one of the most famous estates in the Moulis appellation, along with Chasse-Spleen and Poujeaux.

The estate has been managed by the Flageul family since 1976. Today, Erwan Flageul is determined to improve quality, which includes working closely with wine consultant Eric Boissenot.

Chateau Brillette usually produces robust wines with elegant tannins.

In the Bottle

Somewhat inconsistent, certain recent vintages of Brillette such as 2000, 2003 and 2005 clearly show what progress the estate has made, and the wines are now well worthy of attention. 2001 also aroused some interest among critics.

Good value for money, especially in successful years. Almost a 2 star estate.
