Cambon La Pelouse is located in the Haut-Médoc appellation on the border with Margaux and between two classified growths, Châteaux Cantemerle and Giscours.
The wine has had a good reputation since the 17th century, when it was exported to England and Northern Europe. Cambon La Pelouse rested somewhat on its laurels from the end of World War II until the mid 1970s, when the vineyard was entirely replanted.
