Located on Saint-Emilion's northern glacis, Château Dassault - formerly called Château Couperie - changed names when it was purchased by Marcel Dassault in 1955.
The charming 18th century style château is entirely surrounded by vines.
The subsoil consists largely of sandy-chalky silica.
The vineyard has been renovated over the past decade, and a new vat room was built.
Advised by Michel Rolland for many years, as well as by Louis Mitjaville since 2000, the owners are doing their best to express their estate's excellent terroir. Dassault makes fine, well-balanced, fruity wines.
With deeper fruit and greater complexity, Château Dassault's most recent vintages show that the renovation done in the vineyards is starting to pay off. Previous vintages, however, sometimes lack concentration.
Thanks to its reasonable pricing policy, Château Dassault is very good value for money.
