After the terrible 1956 frost and up until the mid 20th century, Duhart-Milon declined noticeably. Furthermore, the vineyard gradually decreased from 50 hectares to 17 because of the owners' financial difficulties. Things quickly changed when the Rothschild family bought the estate in 1962.
Located to the west of Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild, Duhart-Milon's vines grow on a fine gravel and aeolian sand plateau with a tertiary limestone subsoil.
The Lafite team has managed Duhart-Milon since 1962, meticulously making wine in the traditional way. Duhart-Milon's latest vintages are attractive, moderately powerful, and have beautiful depth.
Limited yields, excellent soil as well as the vineyard's increasing age (it was entirely replanted in the 1970s) are conducive to improving Duhart-Milon's quality.
The Château has been making regular progress since 1988. As a result, Duhart-Milon has gained a much better reputation.
It is widely recognized as one of the better Pauillacs and offers a remarkable Quality/Price ratio and fine regularity.

Toasty oak, vanilla, and red fruit on the nose.
Beautifully concentrated and round on the palate with silky tannin. Attractive ripe fruit and good length.
Perhaps slightly lacking in freshness, but isn't that the trademark of this vintage?
A "sexy” wine that is very enjoyable as of now.
