STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Feytit-Clinet

Pomerol

Non classif.

last update : Tuesday 17 January 2012

Château Feytit-Clinet is located in the "Clinet" section of the Pomerol appellation. Purchased in 1997 from the City of Bordeaux, Feytit-Clinet was leased to the firm of Jean-Pierre Moueix. The château later came up for sale and ownership was hotly contested. It was finally acquired by the Chasseuil family in 2000.

The château itself is not impressive, nor are the cellars showy. The winery is located behind the family residence. It is simple, utilitarian, and adapted to the size of the vineyard (7 hectares). The Chasseuil family's goal is to restore the wine's reputation, since this had flagged somewhat in the late 20th century.

Feytit-Clinet is located on a beautiful, well-drained, early-maturing terroir of gravel on deep clay soil. These characteristics are ideal for quality, as are the low yields.

In the Bottle

Quality has progressed markedly since Jeremy Chasseuil has been in charge of running the estate. Starting with 2004 vintage, the texture had improved and the wine is better-focused, more elegant, and tastier.Château Feytit-Clinet is an excellent Pomerol, and still reasonably priced.
