STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Fleur de Bouard

Lalande de Pomerol

Non classif.

The Boüard de Laforest family - who also own the famous Château Angelus Saint-Emilion, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B - bought La Fleur de Boüard in 1998.

The estate has 20 hectares of vines in Lalande de Pomerol, close to the Pomerol plateau.

The subsoil is divided into two distinct types: clay-sand in the Néac part of the vineyard and a gravelly rise with 10% clay in Lalande de Pomerol.

Vineyard and cellar work is carried out meticulously, and La Fleur de Boüard's style is full-bodied and expressive.

The estate also produces a rare cuvee, Le Plus de la Fleur de Boüard, from low yields (approximately 20 hectoliters/hectare) of old vines. This is deeper and more concentrated than the basic cuvée.

In the Bottle

It is still too early to judge this estate since its purchase in 1998, despite a clearly promising potential. However, recent vintages have been quite good.

This ambitious estate could well play a major role in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation in the future.
