STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Château Fourcas Hosten

Listrac-Médoc

Cru Bourgeois Supérieur

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Named after its initial owner in the 18th century, Fourcas Hosten is one of the most famous châteaux in Listrac-Médoc.

Covering 50 hectares, this vast estate in the heart of the village of Listrac has a clay and Pyrenean gravel subsoil.

Significant renovations were made in the vat room and cellar in the late 1990s. About 80% of the grapes are harvested by hand.

Fourcas Hosten's style is quite full-bodied with fine, spicy, aromatic nuances.

In the Bottle

Château Fourcas Hosten, one of the jewels of the Listrac-Médoc appellation, makes rather supple wine, most likely due to the high proportion of Merlot.

Widely available in French restaurants, Fourcas Hosten is much-appreciated for its good balance. Château Fourcas Hosten is a reliable estate.
