STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Haut Mazeris

Fronsac

Non classif.

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Located on the highest slope in Fronsac, Château Haut Mazéris overlooks a well-situated 6 hectare vineyard with a clay-limestone terroir.

Haut Mazéris has belonged to the Ubald Bocquet family (of Dubonnet fame) for four generations.

Thanks to advice from Jean-Luc Thunevin (Château Valandraud), Haut-Mazéris' latest wines are relatively simple, but velvety and well-balanced with rich fruit aromas.

In the Bottle

Haut Mazeris is one of the up-and-coming Right Bank estates. As with other Fronsac châteaux, Haut Mazeris is doing its best to produce aromatic, expressive wines of character with a good quality/price ratio - after decades of lethargy and, at times, uninspired wine.

1996 and 2000 Haut Mazéris are very good and the 2005 vintage is quite successful, perhaps marking a turning point for this estate.

Haut Mazéris has been managed by Capucine de Luynes since 2002. We will follow its development with great interest.
