Chateau la Serre

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Grand Cru Classé

last update : Sunday 27 November 2011

Château La Serre is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé located near the town ramparts, bordering on Villemaurine and Trottevieille.

The estate is situated in Les Menuts, the site of a former 15th century monastery. Today, La Serre belongs to Luc d’Arfeuille who modernized the estate starting in the late 1970s. The 7-hectare vineyard is located above above an erstwhile quarry, on clay-limestone soil. Grape varieties consist of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet. The average age of the vines is over 30 years.

In the Bottle

Production amounts to about 36,000 bottles a year. Château La Serre can age well, but is nevertheless charming from the very first, with ripe fruit and well-integrated oak.
