Labégorce Zédé takes its name from Gustave Zédé, who owned the château in the late 19th century. The estate was bought by the Thienpont family, and managed by Luc Thienpont starting in 1979 to 2004. The property is now owned by the Perrodo family.
This Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel has 27 hectares of vines in the Margaux appellation and also owns 9 hectares in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation.
The gravel terroir typical of the Médoc makes for rather strong, mineral wines with beautiful fruit aromas. After many years of efforts and investments, Château Labégorce Zédé is now one of the best Crus Bourgeois.
Labégorce Zédé aims to be on the same level as the classified great growths of Margaux, and has reached this goal in the past few years.
The 1983, 1990, and 1996 Labégorce Zédé were memorable, and recent years are unquestionably successful, with a highly attractive quality/price ratio.
Labégorce Zédé is very consistent. Château Labégorce Zédé is clearly well-made and undoubtedly in keeping with the average in this prestigious appellation.
