Château Romer du Hayot is located in the communes of Preignac and Fargues in the Sauternes appellation. The château was included as a 2nd growth in the 1855 classification.
Shortly before the Second World War, Madame du Hayot bought two thirds of the Romer du Hayot vineyard. The remainder (in the hands of another family) was leased to her son, André du Hayot, as a tenant farmer. Since then, the two parts of the estate have been reunited under one management.
Romer du Hayot has 15 hectares of vines. The terroir is a mixture of gravel and clay-gravel soil. Grape varieties consists of 70% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon Blanc, and 5% Muscadelle. The average age of the vines is 35 years.
Romer du Hayot is generally fresh and opulent, with beautiful fruit and a long, fine aftertaste.
