STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Chateau Violette

Pomerol

Non classif.

last update : Sunday 08 January 2012

Domaine de la Violette is located in Pomerol and owes its name to the unique aromas conferred by its terroir.

The 3.25 hectare estate was acquired by Catherine Péré-Vergé after Châteaux Montviel, Fontenil and le Gay in 2002.

The subsoil has crasse de fer (iron-rich hardpan) typical of the greatest wines of Pomerol. The average age of the vines (100% Merlot) is 40 years.

In the Bottle

Château la Violette is particularly rare due to its small size. The wine has a very refined bouquet. It is rich, powerful and round on the palate, with elegant, silky tannin.
