Chateau Yon Figeac

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Grand Cru

last update : Sunday 08 January 2012

Château Yon-Figeac is located in the Saint-Emilion appellation, between the towns of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. It is a Grand Cru Classé.

Yon Figeac dates back to the 19th century and is currently owned by Alain Chateau.

The 25 hectares of vines grow not far from the famous Château Cheval-Blanc on a slope with sandy soil and a ferruginous subsoil. The average age of the vines is 25 years. The breakdown of grape varieties is in keeping with the best wines in the appellation: 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

In the Bottle

Château Yon Figeac also produces a second wine, Château Yon Saint-Martin. The grand vin has a taste of candied fruit and blueberries, with a lovely roundness and fresh tannin.
