Château Caillou is entitled to both the Barsac and Sauternes appellations, and was included in the 1855 classification. The vineyard has remained the same size since then: 15 hectares in a single block between châteaux Climens and Myrat. Château Caillou's subsoil is made up of limestone and shallow sandy-gravel.
