Owned by the von Neipperg family of Canon la Gaffelière, Clos de l'Oratoire has a "cold" terroir due to its location on the north-eastern slope of Saint Emilion. The terroir consists of clay-limestone soil with molasse at the top of the slope and clay-sand soil at the foot of the slope.
