STUDIES ON BORDEAUX WINES AND GROWTHS

Sauvignon

Originated in the Loire Valley of France, the white grapes of Sauvignon are widely available as a single varietal or as a blend with Semillon or Muscadelle. It also shows up in Sauternes' seductively sweet wines.

Sauvignon Blanc offers a fairly wide range of flavors from abrasive herb-like sensations to green pepper, grassy and hay. These flavors usually mingle with citrus fruits and figs. It is considered to give medium-bodied, crisp and refreshing white wines with notable acidity.

Sauvignon is widely cultivated in many countries such as Australia, Chile, USA and New Zealand.
