Appellations Fronsac
Separated from the area of Pomerol by the stream of l’Isle, the Fronsac area has splendid landscapes. Fronsac is also an ancient fortified city overhanging the town of Libourne. The geology of Fronsac is characterized by a calcareous layer whose depth depends largely on the height of the hillside. The soil consists of molasse under argillaceous or sandy grounds.
The Fronsac AOC regroups producers of seven communes. Two communes, Fronsac and Saint-Michel de Fronsac have the right to use the name of A.O.C Canon-Fronsac. Since the 16th Century, the wines of Fronsac have kept an excellent reputation They are famous for their powerful floral and fruity bouquet. In a good vintage their ageing potential is about 10-15 years.

The average production, mostly in red, is of approx. 170,000 hl within a planted surface of 3,200 ha.
