Listrac-Médoc

Situation and soil

Listrac-Medoc official name dates from 1986. The area is along the busy N215 road leading to the ocean and the AOC bounds the viticultural portion of the Medoc peninsula to the West. Listrac Medoc is located on a calcareous plateau. Within this territory, there are several remarkable winegrowing locations. These are mainly composed of permeable gravel outcrops. Listrac-Medoc’s grapes mature slowly and regularly thanks to an excellent natural drainage and to the relative freshness coming from the vast nearby pine forest.

Characteristics

The best wines of the appellation are full bodied, generous and powerful in their youth. They develop with time a remarkable bouquet after 5-10 years of cellaring. An important local winegrowers’ cooperative unit blends approximately 1/3 of the area’s production. The wine growing region is known by wine connoisseurs for its remarkable value for money.
